Why We Built This Site
Michigan publishes a good deal of court and county information, but the pieces live with different offices. A bench warrant for a missed court date is held by the court that set the case. An arrest warrant is signed by a judge or a magistrate and then served by a law-enforcement agency. In Ontonagon County that means the 98-2 District Court, the 32nd Circuit Court, the county clerk, and the Ontonagon County Sheriff Department, each with its own phone number and its own counter.
That structure is easy to misread. A person can check one office, get no answer, and decide the matter is closed when the file is simply sitting somewhere else. Court files and sheriff records also follow different access rules, so the same request can be routine in one office and restricted in another. The pages here put the contacts and the steps in one place. On top of that, some states run a statewide warrant search, while Michigan does not: the state's public criminal-history tool leaves warrant information out, and the law-enforcement network that carries it is not open to the public.
What You Will Find Here
- Warrant lookups: how to run a warrant search through the court that issued the order and the sheriff who would serve it
- Outstanding warrants: how to check for active warrants in a county that posts no public roster
- Missed court dates: how bench warrants arise under Michigan's court rules and which court holds them
- Criminal charges: what an arrest warrant contains and how a voluntary appearance works
- Traffic citations: how a traffic warrant and a Secretary of State license notice are two separate tracks
- City courts: why the municipal court warrant answer in this county is the district court
- Wanted lists: what a most wanted list would be and why the county posts none
Ontonagon County has one incorporated place and one district court, so the contact map is short. The offices are still split between the courthouse on Greenland Road and the sheriff building on Conglomerate, which is why each page names the counter before it names the step.
What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site. We have no connection to any Michigan court, the Ontonagon County Sheriff Department, or any state agency. There are real limits to what we can help with:
- We cannot remove, recall, quash, or clear a warrant on any system
- We cannot run an official warrant check or confirm whether a warrant exists for anyone
- We cannot arrange a surrender, a court date, or a warrant walk-through
- We cannot post bond or accept any kind of payment toward a warrant
- We cannot guarantee that every phone number, fee, or office hour on this site is current right now
- We cannot give legal advice or tell you how a specific warrant applies to you
Only the court that issued the warrant or the sheriff's office that holds it can confirm whether a warrant is open and whether it has been recalled or cleared. We point you to the right office; the answer comes from them.
Search Partners
Some pages on this site carry search boxes run by third-party providers. Those companies set their own prices and run their own services. When a visitor uses one of those tools and it leads to a paid signup, we may earn a referral fee, and that revenue keeps this site free to read. We do not control what a partner charges or what its results contain, and nothing a partner returns is an official warrant check.
